So our book club is still going, just a little different than we imagined.

Here are some of the highlights right now:

Amy Green is reading REBEKAH! (Katie Hoffpauir's favorite). she says it is really good and recommends it.

I am ready Wuthering Heights, and though it is rather dark, it is really good. Amy will be reading this next. So if you want t join in conversation here soon about the book, jump in.

Mindy --> upon recommendation, and maybe some arm twisting, but obvious for good measure, is reading the Harry Potter series. And just from the sound of it (and the speed that it is taking her to go through these books), she is also loving it. And check out that picture, YES, on amazon.com they say they will e-mail you when the 7th book title is out...AWESOME! Love Harry Potter!

Let us know what you are reading, how it's going, any recommendations, ect!! We love books, all books, so get to reading!!

Still Working on It!!!

Well, ladies, I am still reading the book. I don't know why, but I am having the hardest time finishing this book. I usually start a book and finish it way too fast! It's not the book, I really enjoy reading it, I just haven't had much time to read. Our house will be finished in a week and a half, so I am so pumped and hopefully after that, I will be back in the reading mode. I have to be, it's only 10 months until the last Harry Potter book is rumored to be out!!!! So, I have to keep practicing my reading, so I can find out if Harry lives or dies as quickly as possible!!!!

About The Moonstone, though, I have really enjoyed it so far. I feel as if I should have read Robinson Crusoe though, since it is mentioned so much. I am ready to see who really stole the diamond. I change my mind all the time about who actually did it! Well, my pants leg is being pulled aggressively by Aaron, so I better go! Love you girls!

Pilgrim's Regress

So, I've been kinda hanging out waiting for the next book, so I decided to start pulling off books from the bookshelve that you always "wanted to read", but just never have had time. So the first:

Pilgrim's Regress, by C.S. Lewis!

It's really rather good, and a little crazy, and at times extremely hard to really catch the whole picture (lots of intellectual words and concepts...that loose you sometimes), but it's been a great read, and any of you out there just wanting a pick me up...PICK IT UP!

PS. the book cover on this one is a little scary...

Character Developments

OK Ladies -- I am in the final chapters of the book, and I am DIEING to know what has happened! I have had dreams about diamonds, and just craziness! It's almost like i have to force myself to think and read other things...b/c I'm a little obsessed. It may be slightly slow in areas, but I have loved the book. I can't wait to hear what you guys think about it.

I think I really like how he develops characters. You are allowed to form your own opinion of each character based on how you feel about the narrative person speaking, and their character. Does this make sense? It's what we do in everyday life! If Amy tells me a girl is AWESOME from camp, I take her opinion very highly in that area, and I too am under the impression this girl should be great for camp! ...ect, ect. Anyways, I pray you girls are doing well and are encouraged! Love ya!

Moonstone

Well, girls, Amy and I are so excited about our upcoming book club! We can't wait to begin...and honestly, we already got started.

Our first book that we have selected (please note we will begin choosing the next book soon, so let us know what you are interested in):
Moonstone, by Wilkie Collins

Little intro to the book:
"Alongside Edgar Allan Poe in America, Britain†s Wilkie Collins stands as the inventor of the modern detective story. The Moonstone introduces all the ingredients: a homey, English country setting, and a colorfully exotic background in colonial India; the theft of a fabulous diamond from the lovely heroine; a bloody murder and a tragic suicide; a poor hero in love with the heroine but suspected of the crime, who can†t remember anything about the night the jewel was stolen; assorted friends, relatives, servants, a lawyer, a doctor, a sea captain†suspects, all; and, most essentially, a bumbling local policeman and a brilliant if eccentric London detective. Adding spice to the recipe are unexpected twists, a bit of dark satire, a dash of social comment, and an unusual but effective narrative structure†eleven different voices relate parts of the tale, each revealing as much about himself (and, in one case, herself) as about the mystery of the missing Moonstone.Filled with suspense, action, and romance, The Moonstone is as riveting and intoxicating today as it was when it first appeared more than a century ago. "

Amy and I are excited about the start. Here's the link to Barnes and Noble to get the book. And PS. GET YOUR CLASSICS NOW! Barnes and Noble has all of their classics on 50%. Amy and I already stocked up, and if you want our list that we got, just ask! But honestly, it's a great deal, and good reading! Can't wait to hear from you girls!
